Catching up with everyone's news |
The Lothian MS Therapy Centre, Edinburgh At the Edinburgh MS Therapy Centre we have an HBO chamber which can hold up to 6 people at a time in comfortable chairs. It can also accommodate wheelchairs through the wide door, so there is no need to transfer from wheelchair to chair. We can pipe in radio or music through headphones, and keep a supply of books and magazines to fill in the treatment hour. However, it has been noticed that several of our members seem to prefer to indulge in a little siesta! Members contribute a donation of £9 toward the cost of running the Centre. Many give more than this, and help with fundraising as well. We also offer reflexology, and physiotherapy sessions (at considerably less than the usual cost ) with a physiotherapist who has years of experience of the particular needs of people with MS. We also offer yoga. We hold frequent courses in fatigue management and in memory improvement techniques. We can put individuals in touch with counsellors and other professionals. There is a wide range of literature, videos and audio cassettes. and a comfortable area to read, watch TV or one of the videos, or have a chat and a cup of coffee. Two full-time staff run the Lothian Centre, with a physiotherapist and a team of volunteers who are always ready to help. Visit our
